New movies for this week – i managed to get a sneak peek of it when they were putting it up tonight for tomorrow.   You all know that new releases comes out on Tuesdays right?   I am not very much into shows like the Clash of the Titans but I would definitely watch Warloads – i hope they have the cantonese version of it – that way the kids can watch in English and i can watch in Cantonese.  Jet Li is in this movie – i know it’s actually an old movie that got re dubbed into English – the movie is from 2007.

Repo Men is the other big movie that came out this week – I’m going to watch that too.  So look out for a review here shortly after this week.  Those who likes Jude Law – don’t forget to get it from your favorite local store.  Forest Whitaker – the guy who looks like a pug  – is also the other lead in the show.

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler in Bounty Hunter and check out the binoculars Gerard Butler had in the movie!   Some equipment as a bounty hunter – i know my father-in-law who does bird watching would like to have something like that. Did i like the show?  yes definitely – and Jennifer Aniston whom everyone said cannot act seems to be doing better in this show – so do watch it and give her a chance.

A down and out ex-police officer Milo Boyd gets a job hunting down his ex-wife who is a reporter – Nicole (Jennifer).  Although he is still in love with her – he refused to admit it.  What i loved most about the movie was his ex-mother-in-law – now that the kind of mother-in-law I want to be.  Christine Baranski famed for A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1982 – she was hilarious.

So the two ex -es met in an awkward circumstances and both trying to outwit each other and in the end – they helped solved a mystery – and Nicole gets her “real” story – Milo got his friend back in the police officer they suspected of foul play and did they managed to find love again?  watch it if you want to know.  Recommended watching – and it can be a family show – but not too young please.

This is definitely not a serious movie – no real cop action here – so if you are looking for a macho movie – move along now.  We’ve gone to watch this movie in the big screen – since it was something the kids can watch with us too – but when it came out on DVD this week – they all wanted to watch it again – so i rented it.

Bruce Willis is the draw of this movie for us – we don’t quite like the Tracy Morgan in this character – coz’ he acted a little bit on the dumb side – who kept thinking that the wife was cheating on him – constantly.  He even had this spy cam set up on a teddy bear to spy on his wife one day – only to be slapped on the face with the truth.  Anyhow, this movie is mostly about Bruce – trying to pay for his daughter’s wedding and to prove to his ex-wife and her new husband that he is the MAN!

In order to do so – he needed to sell a rare baseball card of his – but was robbed instead – yes ! a cop being robbed because he didn’t have his gun with him – as he was suspended of duty. Bruce Willis as Jimmy – of course went into a hunt to get h is baseball card back with his long time NYPD partner Paul – played by Tracy Morgan.    Like i said no killing her – even with gangsters involved and all – just a very funny show – about a father – trying to save face.  Watch it? yes – go right ahead – afterall, it is Bruce Willis.

Crossing Hennessy has Jackie Cheung in the movie – and I’ve had it for a long, long time now – but was just waiting for the Cantonese version to come out on DVD.  The actress in this show is Tang Wei famed for that Tony Leung movie – Lust & Caution some few years ago – that created some controversy with her role as a spy and some explicit show of the skin and body.  You cannot deny that Tang Wei’s acting was pretty good.

Anyhow, Crossing Hennessy was a confusing movie to me – even though it was supposed to be a light hearted movie about Jacky Cheung who is the 41 yrs old son of an electrical appliances store owner.  It’s about fixed marriages – it’s about tradition and a little outta tradition since his mother got married like at 60 something years old which we don’t really see often in real life in Asia.

Although both Jacky and Tang Wei was seeing someone else then – when they were matched mate – something or was it fate that happened?  that brought them together and the mysterious “ah seng” – well – i still don’t really know whether he was for real after the end of the movie.  Did i enjoy it?  yup ! for sure – Maggie Cheung is also in it – so have fun watching it.   Here’s a preview of the show.

So the kids and I went to see The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan in it and Jaden Smith – at first I didn’t really clued in who this kid was – till i saw the poster of him and Will Smith together.   Well, Jaden Smith was pretty good in the movie if you asked me – but i’m wondering now if people went to see the movie because of Jackie Chan or Jaden Smith? LOL!  Jaden in his own rights must be quite popular just because he is Will Smith’s kid right?   But Jackie Chan sure looked older than he is – now need he hunched the way he did in the movie?  So drama- rama right?  It’s funny to watch Jackie Chan speak in English and truth be told – i too sometimes mis-pronounced some words that can make one shy away from certain words.

Anyhow, lets come back to the movie – i had a few good hearty laugh and so did my kids.  My kids said we are so getting the movie when it comes out on DVD.  The movie was certainly interesting and showed a lot of parts of China – and China has definitely changed  tremendously.  A part of me is so proud but the other part – sad because i missed traveling.   But the show is for the entire family of any ages – i strongly recommend it because of all the good values in the show.

Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is a 12-year-old living in Detroit when his mother Sherry (Taraji Henson) gets a job in China. Once in China, Dre misses home and wants to go back to the US. His mother tells him that China is home now, and he must learn to accept his new home. Dre begins to like China when he falls for his classmate Mei Ying (Wenwen Han). Dre’s feelings for Mei Ying are seen by Cheng (Zhenwei Wang) the class bully who is out to stop it. Cheng puts Dre to the ground with ease using his Kung Fu training. Dre doesn’t have a chance using the little karate that he knows, and Cheng proves it the next time he sees Dre. Dre is getting beaten badly when Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) the maintenance man, secretly a Kung Fu Master, stops the fight. Dre persuades Mr. Han to teach him Kung Fu. With this knowledge, Dre must now face down Cheng in a fight to win his respect in a Kung Fu tournament.

We were out looking for high risk life insurance for the outlaws – but instead got distracted and went to our favorite movie store downtown.  You see if you didn’t know by now – tuesdays are new movies days and we need to be the first one to grab the movies – since it is cheap here and they only have a few copies.

This week there are so many movies – it was quite eye boggling even for me an ardent movie fan.  The big one is The Bounty Hunter – which was a pretty good movie – i saw that one – then we have Saint John of Las Vegas, Greenbert,  Play the Game,  Happy Tears, Aegri Somnia,  Shark City,  Chloe, Coach, The Greatest.

We took a long time to decide if we should see The Greatest or watch Bounty Hunter again.   But we finally rented 2 of them. At $3 a night you can’t go wrong with that.

Next week or the weekend – we can rent the rest i guess.

So the final season of Lost had been over for some time now – and we’ve just started watching the show – after recording it for months.  Why?  LOST is just a confusing show – I feel that it would be a lot better to wait – for it to end before starting and I’m really glad I did.  We are onto episode 12 right now – and it’s still as confusing as hell!  So i stopped the show last night out of frustration and to take a break and did my lipozene review instead.  I don’t know what you all thought about the show – but if this wasn’t the last season – i’m just about giving up – hahah!   Definitely intriguing but frustrating as well – but I have to take my hat off to the writer of the script for keeping us in suspense for 6 yrs and we still can’t imagine what the real story is all about.  Is it all a dream?  is it some kind of 3rd kind intervention?  Will write more about it – once i’m done – wish me luck now.

I was doing my best ab workout when the kids came running out and shouted – WAREHOUSE 13 IS BACK!   OoooK i said – and instead of letting me finish up with my workout – they wanted me to join them – why?  they are a little scared they said – hahaha! kids!

Well, the season premiere – Time Will Tell was pretty decent I have to say – I didn’t quite got into the show – but only after the kids loved it so much – i decided to humor them.  Last season  – it ended with Arty being blown up and his ex- partner – Macpherson  from a long time ago behind all of it.  We then suspected that Leena was the traitor but impersonating as Claudia and putting her in a very bad position with a object obtained from Warehouse 13.   But we all know that Arty can’t die – else we won’t have Warehouse 13 Season 2 right?  So yes  – you are right – he survived – watch it and see for yourself.  I don’t think you will be disappointed but might complain that it seems short for a premiere.

Wow!! i was kind of shocked too – to see that Lindsay Lohan on U tube trying to convince the judge that she didn’t do anything wrong – for violating her probation.  She maybe a spokesperson for a lot of things including weight loss products but this time – she can’t even managed to convincingly scam the judge to not sentence her to jail.

Judge Marsha N. Revel ruled today that Lindsay Lohan violated the terms of her probation in a drunk driving case when she failed to attend alcohol education classes and sentenced her to 90 days in jail.
The judge stated several instances over the last few years in which the actress lied about taking drugs and drinking.
“It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” Revel said.
Before sentencing, a tearful Lohan addressed the court, saying “as far as I knew I was in compliance with my programs.”
“I wasn’t trying to get special treatment,” the actress said. “I have to provide for myself. I have to work. Having said that, I did everything to balance my jobs and showing up. I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life. It’s my career…I take responsibility for my actions. I’ve tried to do the best I can. It’s been such a long haul, I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you.”

The joke is really on Lindsay Lohan if you asked me – with all her drinking and partying all over town and in France – how can any judge not sentence her.  She probably thinks that being a celebrity – she won’t be punished or something along that line ?   She lied just about everything and if you have gone to gutteruncensored – you will see that Lindsay Lohan is in just about every gossip they have there.  From drunkenness to panties slips and all sorts of ugly things.

We’ve had this movie for a long time now but I didn’t really care to watch it because i watched like a 5 mins preview of it and didn’t quite like it.  So the other day – we had nothing to watch – so we started watching this show – when the kids were in bed.   Matt Damon was in it – so how bad can the movie be right?  So i stopped reading about irvingia and finished up the movie last nite.

Well, as expected there was a twist to the movie – but i won’t tell you about it.  This movies was set in the 50s and i had thought it was in the 70s – with the kind of gentleman’s hat that Matt Damon wore.  So the movie started with Matt Damon going to Shuttle Island to investigate about some missing patient who had killed her 3 children to uncover more than that.  Stuck in a terrible storm – he figured that he was being drug by the doctors there and that they won’t let him leave the island and that the lighthouse was where they perform all sorts of horrid operation and test on patient that had psychiatric problems.  It was a pretty bizarre ending and apparently Matt Damon wasn’t just the Marshall coming to investigate – he had been in Shuttle Island before.  Watch it and find out for yourself.
