“American Idol” fans have launched a grass-roots campaign to keep Paula Abdul as a judge on the No. 1-rated U.S. television show after her manager said she had not received a new contract proposal and might leave the singing contest”

So is this a gimmick to get more money to bring Paula back to the most watched show in America..??  Your guess is as good as mine.  But I do like Paula.. but some fresh face wouldn’t hurt either eh.

Former “Idol” contestants joined in the #keepaula campaign on Twitter and American Idol Internet forums. Abdul — a mainstay of the show since 2002 — took to her own Twitter page to thanks fans for their support.

Talk show queen Oprah losing her fans..?? and show rating down by 32% ??  wow..!!! that’s a lot .. of points down.. ain’t it..??  Is it because of MJ’s death.. and everyone is fixated with it..?? or is Oprah really losing her golden touch.. with her fans.

TV’s reigning queen is losing viewers at a rate that hasn’t been seen since “The Oprah Winfrey Show” was launched 23 years ago. Winfrey’s ratings for the July 4th week, released yesterday, were her lowest since 1983 — the latest in an alarming slide that’s been going on for the last five years.

The ratings for “Oprah” since 2004 are down by nearly a third, 32 percent, records show.

So, is TV’s biggest star losing her legendary mojo?

“There’s the fatigue factor,” says industry analyst Marc Berman of Mediaweek. “Oprah’s been on the air for over two decades.

“She can last for as long as she wants to last,” he believes. “But it gets to the point where fans might be getting a little tired of her show.”

Like most other daytime talk shows, “Oprah” is in repeats over the summer.

A teenage member of the “Harry Potter” film cast pleaded guilty on Thursday to illegally growing 10 cannabis plants at his mother’s home in London.  Jamie Waylett, 19, who has played school bully Vincent Crabbe in all the films about the boy wizard, had been arrested with a friend after he took a photo of police as the pair drove past officers.

When police searched his friend’s black Audi they found a number of bags of cannabis.  Ten cannabis plants were later discovered at the home of Waylett’s mother in Kilburn, northwest London.  Waylett’s friend, John Innis, 20, admitted illegally possessing 11 bags of cannabis and a knife.

The hearing at Westminster Magistrate’s Court in central London was adjourned until July 21, the Press Association reported.  The case was heard the day after the general release in Britain of the latest in the blockbuster series, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

The sixth “Harry Potter” film raked in 58.4 million dollars on its first day of release smashing the mid-week record, the Warner Bros studio said Thursday.

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was the biggest-ever Wednesday film debut, agreed industry insider Variety, which hailed the huge opening on screens across the United States and Canada as “a massive start.”

Earlier Wednesday, “Harry Potter” easily scored the biggest midnight gross of all-time, earning 22.2 million dollars as it debuted on some 3,000 screens at 12:01 am.   The figure smashed a record of 18 million dollars set last year by “The Dark Knight,” the latest in the “Batman” movie series.

Warner Bros bosses welcomed the news, and paid tribute to all those who had waited in line to see the film.   “We are so happy to share ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ with the fans and thrilled that they turned out in record numbers to see it,” said Dan Fellman, head of domestic distribution, in a statement.  The film opens this week in major markets around the world, and Warner Bros is expecting bumper audiences.

“With many countries yet to open, these already outstanding box office numbers are another testament to the universal appeal of J.K. Rowling’s stories and the remarkable work of everyone behind the Harry Potter films,” said Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner’s head of international distribution.

“The Half-Blood Prince” shows raging teenage hormones stalking the corridors of Hogwarts school of magic and sets the scene for the looming final battle between Harry and his nemesis Lord Voldemort in the concluding films.

Sarah McLachlan, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow to play charity fest in Vancouver!

With the return of Lilith Fair still looming, Sarah McLachlan is presenting another star-studded music festival, this one being headlined by Neil Young, Sheryl Crow and McLachlan herself.  Summer Sessions at Ambleside, a one-day benefit concert on Sept. 12 in Vancouver, will raise funds for the Sarah McLachlan Foundation, which provides free music programs to youth in under-served communities.  In April, Nettwerk Music Group announced that the all-female music fest Lilith Fair – which McLachlan co-founded – would return after a 10-year absence.

The Ambleside fest will also include performances from an “eclectic array of talented Canadian artists” in addition to the headliners, according to a press release.  “We hope the event will entertain and inspire, while increasing awareness of the need for music in children’s lives,” McLachlan said in a statement.

Jon Gosselin’s new girlfriend has at least one thing his ex-wife Kate doesn’t have – an arrest record.

Glassman and five others were spotted by campus police on October 2, 2005 at 3:18 AM, hanging out in a parking lot “passing a pipe back and forth, which is consistent with marijuana,” IU police spokesperson Jerry Minger told Access.

Glassman was arrested for possession of marijuana after police said they found two plastic baggies in her handbag containing a substance which later tested positive as marijuana, Minger explained. One bag contained one gram and the other contained two grams of the drugs.

ER Star – Actress Maura Tierney says she’s having surgery to remove a tumour in her breast.

Tierney, who recently wrapped a long-running stint on the NBC medical drama “ER,” issued a statement about the surgery on Monday, giving no details on her condition and when she’d due to have the operation.

Says Tierney: “I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed.”

Tierney says her doctors assured her “this is a very treatable condition,” and she’s “very optimistic as to the outcome.”

Tierney’s setback has delayed production on her new NBC series “Parenthood” for eight weeks. The network said the medical drama “Mercy” will instead premiere this fall.

I was in Halifax.. but I didn’t get to see Sir Paul but I heard great reviews of the performance.. and today .. i heard from someone we knew.. that he was amazing…!! belting away. for 2.5hrs. .non stop..!!  jumping and dancing.. and even spitting.  This 60 something years old man.. surely took everyone’s breath away.  And he chose Halifax to perform in.. in all of Canada. Woohoo..!!

For more than 2 1/2 hours he performed the soundtrack of their youth, and through it all they sang along with him, swayed arm-in-arm with their spouses or children and, at times, even cried.

Tens of thousands gathered on the Halifax Common on Saturday night as Paul McCartney brought one of the most venerated canons in all of pop and rock to the Nova Scotia capital.

From the moment he strolled onto the massive stage in a Beatlesque dark blue suit and carrying his iconic Hofner bass, the 67-year-old pop legend held the crowd in his thrall.

And from the opening chord of the Beatles’ classic “Drive My Car,” the sea of people that covered much of the recreational green space in central Halifax stood and cheered.

“Can you believe the energy?” screamed fan Susan Wellmann before McCartney came out for a second encore.

“This is the best concert ever in Halifax.”

Backed by his ace band of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., keyboardist Paul (Wix) Wickens and guitar players Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray, McCartney performed 36 songs during the two hour and 38 minute performance – his first-ever in Atlantic Canada and his only one in Canada this year.

“Good evening Halifax. Good evening Nova Scotia. Good evening Canada,” McCartney said early into a set list heavy with Beatles, Wings and solo classics.

Through it all, he chatted with the crowd, told stories and seemed to enjoy and appreciate every minute of it.

One of the night’s highlights came early in “Calico Sky” when he flubbed a line after looking into the crowd to see a teenage girl holding a sign that read: Will you sign my arm so I can get it tattooed?

He finished the song, brought the ecstatic girl on stage and signed her shoulder with a marker. As a bemused McCartney looked on, she ran screaming around the stage to hug the band before being escorted off by security.

“You’d better get the tattoo done now,” he said as she left to laughter and cheers.

During the first encore, the 78th Highlanders Pipe Band from Halifax joined McCartney on stage for a stirring rendition of “Mull of Kintyre.”

Angela Loughead, a lifelong fan from Truro, N.S., reminisced about listening to her older brother’s Beatles albums as a child.

“I would have gone anywhere in Canada to see him,” she said shortly before the show began.

In the end, Loughead only had to travel an hour to Halifax to see McCartney in person. But without John, George and Ringo, she predicted it would be bittersweet.

“I never dreamed I would actually be able to see him,” she said. “It will be emotional because it’s just him instead of all of them as it should be.”

Hours before McCartney was set to take the stage, thousands of fans lined up outside fenced-in Common anxiously waiting for the gates to open.

Even people without tickets stopped to watch the pop legend as he treated the crowd to a lengthy sound check that included “Yesterday” and “Lady Madonna.”

Marcia Ward, who secured one of the first spots at the front of the line, said she’d been waiting all her life to see McCartney.

“I was born on his ninth birthday and I’ve been a fan since I was 13 years old,” said Ward, 58.

Ward said she flew in from Indiana on Thursday night and went straight to the concert site and camped out for two nights. She said the ground was hard, but a couple of uncomfortable nights were well worth it.

Before McCartney’s performance, Halifax rockers Wintersleep warmed up the massive crowd under a bright, cloudless sky.

They were followed by Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Joel Plaskett.

As the hours wore on before McCartney’s big entrance, fans shared their memories of the Beatles and spoke of their favourite songs.

Adele Johnson of Stellarton, N.S., said she vividly recalls watching their first North American television appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, while an undergraduate living in residence.

Johnson said she and her husband, Jim, don’t usually attend outdoor concerts but made an exception for Paul.

“It’s our generation, it’s the Beatles for heaven’s sake, what else can you say,” said Jim Johnson. “I’m sure this place will just be rocking.”

Jesse Melanson, 13, of Moncton, N.B., could barely stand still he was so excited.

“I’m pumped. They’re my favourite band – the Beatles – and (McCartney) has a bunch of Wings songs that are really good,” he said.

Brent Randall, 21, echoed that sentiment.

Well, I didn’t say it .. the ppl at Blemish did..!! muahahaha!!!  According to one of his former girlfriends — an actress who Rob dated for around two months last year after meeting her through friends — the Twilight hunk is “amazing” in bed.

“We just had this chemistry between us that made our kisses amazing,” the ex told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “I felt electricity go between us!

“I’m really passionate, as is he. That’s why, no matter how much we fought, it was always amazing in bed!”

“We’d glance at each other throughout the night because it made it more exciting when we got home,” added Rob’s former flame. “The tension was so strong, we couldn’t control ourselves. It was amazing!”

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Brit has ended his short-lived romance with Kristen Stewart and is now romancing his Remember Me costar Emilie de Ravin.

So said the ex-g/f ..!!  Surprising..? not..!! but i bet .. he is that kinda b/f who wants the final say.. haha!! what do you think..??

Simon Cowell was a “horrible cheat”, according to his ex-girlfriend.

Sinitta – who dated the ‘American Idol’ judge for around 16 years on and off – admits her relationship with him was tough as they were apart so much due to work commitments.

Asked if they did date for such a long time, 40-year-old Sinitta replied: “On and off, because Simon was a horrible cheat!  He was a horrible cheat.  He was always disappearing and stuff, you know, and I’d have to work and he’d almost be laughing as he waved me off on a plane to Japan, like, ‘Great, I’m going to have a really good time while you’re away.’ I’d be crying he’d be laughing! He reckons that I broke his heart, but he definitely broke mine.
