You don’t need to be a kid to watch TinkerBell, afterall, these are all Disney Classic. And as usual.. any good kid’s movie we will definitely get.. even though it is darn ex. My kid already watched it a few times.. and just loved it.
In 2008, Walt Disney Home Video released a direct to DVD feature, TINKER BELL. This film, following Peter Pan’s sidekick, defied the odds as being a direct to DVD sequel that audiences embraced enough that it took some of the stigma from the direct to DVD label.
Now, Disney is releasing TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE. This is another direct to DVD sequel, with most of the same vocal talents.
It is Autumn in Pixie Hollow. Tinker Bell is in charge of building a scepter for the moonstone. When the blue harvest moon rises, the moonstone reflects the moon’s rays to restore the Pixie Dust Tree for the next year.
Unfortunately, Tink accidentally breaks the moonstone, the only one in existence. She has to head out to try and make things right again in Pixie Hollow.
While geared to younger audiences, I was quite shocked by how much I enjoyed this film. In fact, I think it is even better than last year’s TINKER BELL. A sequel to a direct to DVD film being superior to the original? It is.
Executive produced by Pixar’s John Lasseter, this is a great looking film. The computer animation, while not quite at Pixar level, is beautiful, especially the scenes involving Pixie dust.
On Blu-Ray, this could become something of a reference quality disc for under 10 years olds to demonstrate their Blu-Ray player to friends.
The voice cast includes Mae Whitman as Tink, Jesse McCartney, Jane Horrocks, Lucy Liu, Kristin Chenoweth and Anjelica Huston. They are all fun, and there is a nice score by Joel McNelly.
