My longest friend all the way from my college years is getting married at last – and we never thought she would.  Not because she wasn’t good looking but more so – she was looking for the “right” man – she wasn’t going to settle like most of us – she said in a kind way.  And I was chosen by my group of friends to throw her a bachelorette party and I was honored – I was going to throw her a party that she will never forget – after all, I’m not known as a “party queen” during college for nothing.  I had everything though of – even the invitation card would be perfect – funny and slutty and we were going to invite our dearest friends from college and most already agreed to come even those not living in town no more.  Since I had so many invitation and thank you cards to print – I chose printdirectforless postcard printing for my printing partner – less money spent on printing means more money for booze and maybe a strip tease show for the bride to be.

As for the location, we’ve chosen a club of another friend – that way – it can be kinda semi-private but not too prim and proper.   We know of some gags we were going to use on the bride but definitely no toilet paper bridal gown – so old school.   I’m very excited about the party and can wait to see the bride’s face when she sees what is in store for her.

*All info comes from Chong Wai Kin, producer of Laughing Gor previously known as ‘SLS’ (Salute Laughing Sir)* . [CIB = Criminal Investigation Bureau]  The Laughing Gor cast includes Michael Tse who doesn’t look old at all – give me his anti wrinkle creams that work, Fala Chen, Kate Tsui, Bosco Wong, Derek Kwok, Tat Dik and MC Jin.

So is this new series going to be the same as Turning point?  But read that it was going to be totally new but only using the same old character of the old show.   But it had been a few years since Micheal acted on the first tvb drama on Laughing Gor – and yet – instead of looking older – he looked even younger.  The last time I saw him on the tv interview – he did have some wrinkles !  i swear !  but now – he looks like he is in his 20s but he is actually in his 30s.  The shooting for the series is going to start next month – and I can’t wait to see the show – lets see if he really looks younger on screen then.  Apparently MC Jin is also in the new series as one of his student.   Fala also look very young eh – I tell you these actors and actresses must have some kind of miracle wrinkle cream – and I would love to know their secret.

Mandy Wong became popular after the tvb series Suspects in Love in 2007, she was also a Ms Hong Kong Contestant.  Recently appearing in the show Home Troopers, we saw a huge change in Mandy’s acting.  Mandy played Liza Wang’s daughter and is a school teacher but quite the rebel.  We also learned that Mandy and Liza had a good working relationship and never scolded her like in the tvb drama where there was a scene whereby a huge argument with Liza and some slapping was involved.

What impressed me was Mandy shouting scene with Liza when Liza her mother in the show found out that she was the third party of a broken relationship – only to find out later that the wife was the scheming one.  Mandy said she was shaking after the scene and took her 10 minutes to regain composure.   Mandy who doesn’t like complicated relationship said she never experienced being a 3rd party – good on her – because in Asia the third party especially being a celeb is frown upon.   Good luck to Mandy – hope she continues with her good acting.

Really so who is Bernice new love?  I want to know too.  Apparently it is rich boy Alastair Lam – and that puts Bernice in a good mood when filming too – so I heard.  And here you see her texting to someone often on set.  But Bernice was seen and photographed holding hands with Alastair in Hong Kong.  So is it true or the media making up stories again?   Wasn’t Bernice with Moses?  did they break up?

While the spouse and children eat popcorn when they watch a movie and tv show – me and my Asian friends craved for fish balls on a stick and satay.   Yes! what a really bad habit – I know that – we know that – but we just love our solid food – and guess what we need after eating all these junk food ?  we feel so guilty and we have to take our hoodia diet pills else – I can’t face myself  the next week.   What do you have for snacks?  when you watch a movie?  I hope healthy ones?  but I can’t seems to find any healthy snacks except popcorn but I never do like popcorn – chips yes ! but not popcorn.  But no matter what I do after snacking – I can’t lose the weight – so help is always needed in my case – plus I do love my food – especially fish balls on a stick.

Crossing Hennessy has Jackie Cheung in the movie – and I’ve had it for a long, long time now – but was just waiting for the Cantonese version to come out on DVD.  The actress in this show is Tang Wei famed for that Tony Leung movie – Lust & Caution some few years ago – that created some controversy with her role as a spy and some explicit show of the skin and body.  You cannot deny that Tang Wei’s acting was pretty good.

Anyhow, Crossing Hennessy was a confusing movie to me – even though it was supposed to be a light hearted movie about Jacky Cheung who is the 41 yrs old son of an electrical appliances store owner.  It’s about fixed marriages – it’s about tradition and a little outta tradition since his mother got married like at 60 something years old which we don’t really see often in real life in Asia.

Although both Jacky and Tang Wei was seeing someone else then – when they were matched mate – something or was it fate that happened?  that brought them together and the mysterious “ah seng” – well – i still don’t really know whether he was for real after the end of the movie.  Did i enjoy it?  yup ! for sure – Maggie Cheung is also in it – so have fun watching it.   Here’s a preview of the show.

A Fistful Of Stances aired March 17, 2010 and is one of the best martial art tv series I’ve seen.  Be prepared to cry your eyes out because this show is really sad.  I didn’t think i would like any martial art show – but this one sure touches reality i our everyday life and showed us that people can be shockingly evil yet can show so much compassion to their own. I know you will like it – it has 25 episodes and I’m all done watching it.  You have fun!

AU YEUNG WAI-LAN (Yuen Qiu), owner of a martial arts training school, is reunited with her long-lost son KOO YU-CHEUNG (Kevin Cheng) after years of agonizing separation. On his return home, CHEUNG is shocked to find that his younger brother KOO YU-TONG (Ma Kwok Ming) has been critically ill and that his father was murdered long ago by WING TAK (Lam Ka Wah), the existing director of a pharmaceutical company and a bitter old foe of the KOOs. CHEUNG has never been into kung-fu but shows glimpses of his potential when he strikes back at the impudent, arrogant WING MAN-KWAN (Jacky Heung), also the son of TAK. Pinning all her hopes on CHEUNG, LAN not only teaches him a special set of kung-fu skills created by the family, but also registers for him for the Guangdong Boxing Championship Tournament. Out of the blue, CHEUNG’s opponent in the final turns out to be KWAN.

CHEUNG starts losing his bearings after achieving growing success and recognition in the field of martial arts. Caught up in the love triangle between LAN’s apprentice YING NGAN-MING (Natalie Tong), his dream girl CHOW MUI-MUI (Nancy Wu) and himself, CHEUNG is utterly confused and exhausted, which later causes his failure in the final tournament.
