Cows On the Couch

Really?  really !  that was what i was told by a friend with her  unlocked phone she bought new – recently.  You see she is in US and she takes a train to work everyday – for an hour!!  yes! can you imagine spending at least 2.5 hrs going to and fro to work?  I can – coz’ I used to do the same on the MRT train.    So she bought this new cell phone so that she can watch u tube while  on the train – that way – she can catch up on news and her favorite tv sitcoms she said.  Amazing right?  these days with technology !  my first cell phone was a CDMA phone that i can only use to call out and not get calls because i was too el cheapo to get a water bottled phone for $1200 but these days – cell phones are so cheap and they are getting better every year.  The unlocked phone that my g/f has – allows her to use it when she is traveling overseas as it works with other GSM service providers around the world.  So yes – from music to movies and now even taking pictures with your unlocked cell phone – pretty amazing eh?

We just finished watching this movie – which is a sequel of Why Did I Get Married? from a few years ago.  The spouse said all Tyler Perry’s movie are like that – haha!  Janet Jackson was in the movie and so were the rest of the original cast.  This movie showed a bitter sweet reunion of the cast but a sad ending – to me anyways – but at the end of the movie – “The Rock” played a small part.

Tyler Perry played the house husband – the wife is a lawyer (sharon Leal ) – who came to a close call of cheating on her husband – just because the other guy made her feel good – a lawyer from another firm. The girl who played loud mouth Angela was Tasha Smith – and if i had a wife like that – i rather be a monk – hahah! the spouse said!   She was someone who suspected her husband was cheating and just because she thinks it – it is the truth according to her other best friend – played by Jill Scott (Sheila).  Janet Jackson was the psychologist who wrote a book about marriage but was the first to break down and got a divorce – her divorce ended nasty – because husband wanted half of her takings for the book and she refused to give in.  Sheila’s ex-husband Mike showed up at the Bahamas where they all went for a vacation and turned everyone into a bad mood.   I didn’t like the ending and some parts were pretty violent – so i suggest no kids watching it – otherwise – this show tucked my heart a lot.

We had a charity drive in this town a few weeks ago – and the town put up a big movie screen and had a old movie played.  So the boys – the big ones i meant – took this opportunity to have a boys’ night out and do some good – so the spouse said.  They brought their beer, junk food and of course – not forgetting their cigars with them for the movie.  So off they went – even the father-in-law went with them all because of the cigars .  You see the mother-in-law doesn’t like the smell at home – so he rarely smoke it at home – even when we bought some cigars for him during Christmas – the mother-in-law wasn’t too impressed.  But it was Christmas right?  and the man is like 70 years old – he’s gotta get some enjoyment in life no?   I wanted to go too – but the children needed watching – so I had stayed home – I wished they had more charity drive like this in the future – that way the boys can also have some good fun.

Definitely a family show – it was hilarious! After all it had Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in it – plus lots of powered actor and actresses.  The story is about Adam Sandler (Lenny Feder) hunting porcine and hollering all the measure, shines as Lenny Feder.  I read some not so nice reviews about this movie – but we loved it – and so did our children.  The kids were funny too and the breast feeding was a bit disturbing but still – it was pretty good – if i may say.  So if it comes out on DVD – you have to get a copy and watch it – we are definitely getting it.

The spouse, the boys and their friends (all guys) spent the last weekend before school opens next week – at Kelly’s Cove  – with the new thule roof racks on two of the father’s mini vans – they brought their biking equipments with them as well.   With 110% price match and free ground shipping the spouse argued we can’t go wrong in buying them.  Plus they do a lot of outdoorsy stuff during the summer – so yes – it was a good investment.  They do have bike packages and also water sports rack as well – so we will be looking into it as well during the next summer.

The weekend ended pretty good – according to the spouse – they did a lot of biking and hiking as well as canoeing – they are already planning where they want to go for the next summer.  So the water sports rack – will come in handy for that.   Boys will always be boys eh ?  but I do encourage them to do outdoorsy things as much as possible – it’s good bonding time for the fathers and sons – what about yours? do you make time for the children to be with their dad alone?

If you have watched Sex and the City 2 – one of the highlight of the show is Liza Minneli singing in the wedding of the two gay guys getting married.  And boy! was she hot!  I’m half her age and don’t look as good – nor do i move that well !  she put me to shame!  look at those legs!!!   I absolutely love that part of that show – and only found out today that Liza Minneli is Judy Garland’s daughter -!!!  And I grew up watchign Judy Garland with my mom.  I adore Judy Garland – what about you?  watch the clip below and tell me if she looked anywhere like 64?  amazing eh!

Definitely a must watch movie – if you haven’t seen it in the theaters yet – so watch out for it when it comes out on DVD.   I went with some of my friends to the movies for this – and it was really good.  Angelina Jolie was in it – and I think that was the draw for me – for this movie.

The story is about a CIA agent – Angelina Jolie who had to run from her own people – because a Russian defector claimed that she was the double agent sent to kill the Russian President.  Her boss – Ted Winters turned out to be someone – not what we had expected and the saddest part of this show – was the killing of her husband – whom she was really in love with.  Apparently, Evelyn Salt was a child trained Russian – put in United States for a bigger purpose when they are older – she is not the only child trained and put into different parts of United States.   So what happened in the end?  watch it and you will know – i don’t want to tell you the entire story eh.

Truth be told I only found out about Hilary Duff’s wedding from a friend – a week ago – i didn’t even know that she was getting married.   You see her wedding pictures and gowns were featured in OK magazine and the girlfriend who is getting married soon – had looked high and low in a women’s clothing catalogs for similar dresses for her wedding and cocktail party.   I’m guessing the girlfriend don’t want to buy the same gown or dress but something similar and more affordable.

Anyhow, it comes as no surprised to all – I guess after Hilary Duff flashed her huge diamond ring costing about $1 million from her professional hockey player boyfriend – Mike Comrie last February.  I heard that Hilary Duff had two bags of Vera Wang’s dresses at one time – shopping – or caught with it by the paparazzi.  I saw a  mermaid gown by Vera Wang for her nuptials and it was really gorgeous !  Good luck to my friend to trying to find something as awesome eh.

Fans of Weeds – the pretty housewife turned drug dealer – will be happy to know that Season 6 is out – check out the sneak peek.

Was it good – not bad – but much anticipation – didn’t really work out to be as good as I had hoped – pretty slow and only 25 mins of show – so let me know what you think.  But I’m a big fan of Weeds – just make sure the kids are not around when you watch them.

I’ve seen the cover of this movie for a long time now and only got to rent and watch it today.   At first I thought it was some heroic cop show – like most – but this cop show definitely had a twist.  While we all thought that cops in the states are well paid and have huge houses – this show portrayed a different light to Brooklyn’s cops.  The setting was old and dirty and even the lockers of the cops were pathetic.  And according to this show – the cops starts only with $20K a year with some  Medicare plan and insurance of $100K if you die in the line of duty.  Now how do one survive with only $20K a year?  Lucky for us here – I know the cops gets a lot more in medicare – because their entire family are covered by some sort of health benefit – from your parents to your wife and kids. And I know the cops here gets paid a lot more with housing benefits too.

Anyhow – with Richard Gere in this show i just had to watch it.  So Richard Gere plays the bitter and retire mode veteran cop in Brooklyn.  And another detective by the name of Sal (Ethan Hawke)- whose wife is pregnant – and already has a few kids try to steal drug money because the need to move to a better house for his wife and children’s health condition.  And then Tango played by Don Cheadle – excellent performance here – is an undercover detective going crazy fighting with his good guy and bad guy conscience.

Eddie played by Richard Gere is a non action cop waiting to retire and wouldn’t do nothing but the day he handed over his badge – went on a lone ranger suicide mission with one bullet in his gun – crazy!  to rescue a missing girl kidnapped by sex traffickers.  The same night Sal – went on his own to bust a drug den to get money for the deposit of his house and Tango’s mission was to kill those who killed bad ass Caz (Wesley Snipes) because he once saved his life.  All 3 cops pretty screwed up if you asked me and of course – the police department is also corrupted – not the money sense but trying to save face in front of the public.  Pretty heavy stuff if you asked me.  Anyhow – lots of blood and a pretty violent movie and nudity involved.  Not suitable for kids under 16 please!
